About Us

Make MTG Cards is a beginner-friendly workshop with practical guides for turning a creative idea into a custom card, token, gift, or small matching set.

Make MTG Cards is a beginner-friendly card-making workshop with a simple promise: turn your idea into a card you can share. We help Magic players and gift makers complete approachable projects, from a first custom card or personalized legendary creature to a useful token or small matching set.

You do not need design experience to begin. Bring a favorite character, a playgroup joke, a gift idea, or a game concept. Our guides turn that spark into clear, manageable steps, so you can finish something useful in one session and build your skills from there.

What you can make

Our six subject areas cover the practical parts of a card-making project. Getting Started helps you choose a purpose and shape a workable first concept. Card Ideas & Gifts explores personal designs, such as a legendary creature inspired by a friend. Artwork & Layout explains image choices, readable type, framing, and visual hierarchy.

Rules Text & Abilities helps you express an effect clearly and understand game terms as they arise. Tokens & Small Sets covers projects such as a readable creature token or a few coordinated cards for a playgroup. Export & Playtesting helps you check a design at its intended size, prepare a useful file, and try an original card with your group’s agreement.

A workshop built around finishable steps

Each guide focuses on a concrete result: a concept sheet, a complete first card, a cleaner layout, clearer wording, an organized mini-set, or an export ready for its next step. Our examples are starting points to adapt, not rules for what creativity should look like.

Make MTG Cards is a card-making guide within the publisher’s network. Our launch collection is built for new creators and makes useful distinctions between original designs, alternate-art treatments, tokens, and printed playtest copies. We explain the choices behind a card in plain language and keep returning to one practical question: what can you finish in this session?

Start with one card, make the next manageable decision, and see where the idea takes you.
